| More Green and Gold Success in Western Australia |
Hot on the heels of Aussie gold at the Olympics, it’s yet another night of gold and green triumph for the Worldwide Online Printing in WA.
At last the Printing Industry Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) annual ceremony held on 23 August, held at the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre, Worldwide’s O’Connor retail Centre scooped its second Gold Environment award in a row.
John Stangeland, State Master and Joint Owner |
John Stangeland, Worldwide’s State Master and joint owner of Worldwide O’Connor, said, “Of course, we’re thrilled to have picked up four awards, and particularly the Gold Environmental award – we’re really passionate at Worldwide in WA about developing sustainable practice.”
Last year, all of Worldwide’s WA centres earned Green Stamp Level II Certification from the (PIAA) Printing Industries Association of Australia and the Western Australian Department of Environment.
Having a Green Stamp recognises that O’Connor and the other WA Worldwide Centres go beyond legislative requirements to achieve high environmental practice standards governing waste management and disposal, pollution prevention and energy conservation.
The Gold Environment award was among a total of an amazing four PICAs won by Worldwide Centres in WA.
Worldwide Fremantle, also owned and run by John and his wife Mandy, won Worldwide’s second Gold PICA this year for its use of digital VDP (variable data printing) in wide format. They won for pushing the boundaries of current VDP convention by printing personalised, self-promotional posters aimed at over 100 local businesses on their state-of-the-art digital Océ TCS 500. The award-winning campaign was completely designed and executed by the team at Fremantle. |
The two Silver PICAs both went to Worldwide East Perth, for the Corporate Stationery Set category and for digital label printing. Worldwide East Perth is owned by Simon Forrest and managed by Mandy Dzelzitis, and has won several WA PICAs in previous years.
“As usual, it was a great fun night at the PICAs, catching up with friends and colleagues in the industry,” added Stangeland.

“Things that make you go hmmmm ..." department:
US Baskin-Robbins® stores are polling America's palate with Flavor Debate '08 - a limited edition release of two new Presidential Election flavors. (Yes, really!)
The two flavour candidates up for debate:
> Straight Talk Crunch (representing Republican Senator John McCain) and
> Whirl of Change (representing Democratic Senator Barack Obama).
Americans can vote for their "flavourite" candidate in any US Baskin-Robbins store nationwide and once the flavour polls close on 20 October, votes will then be tallied and the winner of Flavor Debate '08 will be announced (possibly even providing a taste for which candidate Americans will choose as the next President of the United States in November?)!
