Wendy’s stores across the country are raising funds to support the Red Cross Victorian Bush Fire Appeal and Wendy’s stores across Queensland are also raising money to support The Salvation Army Northern Queensland Flood Appeal (see separate flood story below)

Wendy’s nationally has launched a major fundraising appeal to help support thousands of families across Victoria who have been affected by the nation’s worst bushfires.

The team at Wendy's Wodonga is doing its part and lending a hand to support the Wendy’s Bushfire Appeal, and store owner Brendan Hynes is urging people to visit the store to make a donation.

“Many of the families affected have not only witnessed the absolute devastation of their homes and property, but they have also lost loved ones.  What they must be going through is unimaginable, so this really is a worthwhile cause to support,” Brendan Hynes, said.

“We will be raising funds for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal through Wendy’s stores across the country from now until the 25th February – so next time you’re out doing your shopping why not come in and see us.

“Making a donation is easy – all you need to do is drop a few coins in the donation box which will be available on the counter. Even if it’s just a few dollars – everything will add up to help families that are in desperate need.

“The best part is that 100% of donations will go directly to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.”

For Nicola Milne, Wendy’s CEO, setting up the initiative to support bushfire victims was an easy decision.

“Many of the families that have been affected by the bushfires face a long process of having to re-build their lives and their homes – it’s an extremely tough challenge to face,” Ms Milne said.

“They’re going to need as much support in the coming weeks as possible so we’re urging our customers to show their support for this appeal.

Please visit any Wendy’s store and make a donation.

In addition to the funds being raised to support the Red Cross Victorian Bush Fire appeal (see story above), Wendy’s stores across Queensland are also raising money to support The Salvation Army Northern Queensland Flood Appeal

Wendy’s has launched a major fundraising appeal to help support hundreds of families across northern Queensland affected by severe floods.

The team at Wendy’s Wendy's Yeppoon is doing its part by lending a hand to support the Wendy’s Queensland Flood Appeal and store owner Linda Robinson is urging people to visit the store to make a donation.

“Many of the families affected by the floods in north Queensland have been left isolated and without food and water. They’re also facing the prospect of even more rain so there’s not much relief in sight for a lot of people,” Linda Robinson, said.

“We will be raising funds for The Salvation Army Northern Queensland Flood Appeal through Wendy’s stores across Queensland from now until the 25th February – so next time you’re out doing your shopping why not come in and see us.

There are many ways to donate, but be sure to take the ACCC’s advice and check that your money will be going to those in need.

Your support will be sincerely appreciated by those in need.

Beware of Scammers

It seems unthinkable, but with one man already arrested, it appears that some people use disasters, such as the Victorian Bushfires, as an opportunity to take advantage of people's generosity.

The ACCC has released a statement warning people to be careful of scammers when donating monies to charitable causes.
