Respite services to grow from ‘We Can’ attitude
FAMILIES in dire need of respite care can now breathe a sigh of relief with the availability of care in Australia set to increase with the development of a unique franchise business concept We Can Respite Services.
The brainchild of allied health care specialists Ms Judith Monteath and Ms Liz Offer the original business started as a single community centre in Perth and three years on has progressed to a viable franchise venture, seeking possible franchisees across Australia.
We Can Respite Services provide temporary or ongoing care for individuals who are intellectually disabled or affected by brain injuries, autism and various neurological disorders.
We Can Respite Services Director Ms Judith Monteath said the business would fill a hole in respite care provision, while offering people a viable business opportunity.
“Respite services in Australia are in such high demand yet availability is so low, we hope to solve this issue and increase the level of care services within the community by creating this business and offering franchise options,” she said.
“There are thousands of families who are in need of a well-deserved break from caring for their disadvantaged loved ones and the demand for this is increasing more every day.
“People who are ready for the rewarding challenge of becoming a care service provider can fulfil an essential need in the community and share in the profits of a solid business opportunity.”
We Can co-director Ms Liz Offer said they would be offering two models to potential franchisees, an in-home and out-of-home based option.
“The structure of the business aims for carers to provide an environment as similar to an ideal family home as possible, with all meals prepared and guests encouraged to participate in the process,” she said.
“It is extremely important for our guests to feel comfortable and continue with a normal life maintaining routine. We endeavour to make their stay and experience as enjoyable as possible, while providing a safe caring environment.”
Ms Offer said no experience in health care was necessary to become a We Can franchisee as full training was provided.
“The rewards of this profession are boundless. Knowing you can make a difference in the lives of ordinary people, every day, makes the work a privilege and we know there are many like-minded people out there who will be excited by this opportunity,” Ms Offer said.
“As long as someone’s essence is to care and support others it doesn’t matter if they have not had direct experience in health care. We provide comprehensive training in all aspects of the business. The high financial viability of the business is a bonus.”
We Can Respite Services will be granting a number of franchises across the country, with the ideal location for a franchise in an area with a moderate to high population base.
