SUPPORT IS THE KEY TO WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS |
Four thousand Australian women have embarked on the Get Foxy 12 week weight loss challenge across the 77 national Fernwood clubs in an attempt to loss weight, keep their New Years resolutions alive and ultimately feel foxy and confident. While all these women have set their goals and are hoping to see them through to fruition, 12 weeks is a long time to stick to a healthy diet and regular physical activity and for many – motivation levels drop and participants struggle to stick to the program. Fernwood’s National Weight Management and Fitness Manager Nic Linford one of the most important factors in staying on track is for women to feel supported and part of a team. That’s one of the reasons’ why Fernwood’s 12 week challenge encompasses a team element where members are allocated to one of five different teams and are encouraged to share their experiences in an online networking site. “We have created a Facebook page where currently over 1300 women are passionately sharing their progress and using it as a much needed shoulder to lean on.” Ms Linford says some women do not get much support from their partners or families, so they need a solid support group to help them through when the going gets tough. “Women especially need to be able to talk about how they are feeling and sharing their trials and tribulations with others who are in the same situation, makes the journey more enjoyable and less like a chore.” One member on the site writes “It's been an interesting week of adjustment identifying habits and strategies to deal with them, goal setting is such a good thing and every one of them is attainable. This is the most personal journey and it is wonderful to be able to share it and draw from others on the same journey. Loving the encouragement and support - just brilliant”. |

ON-SITE POOL MAKES THE DIFFERENCE |
PoolWerx Ipswich franchisees Ross and Kathy McTaggart have opened their first retail store, and with an operational in-ground pool on-site, believe it gives them the opportunity to better their client’s store experience by providing live pool maintenance demonstrations. Ross and Kathy, who have owned and operated a PoolWerx mobile franchise since 2006, said they believed they now had the solid foundation needed to expand their business including hiring additional pool technicians. “Having an operational pool as a part of our retail store means we are able to provide our clients with a more relevant and helpful experience when they visit us. We can walk them through chemical balancing and other pool maintenance techniques all within our store grounds, making it easier for them to tend to their own pool when they return home.” “Ipswich has been identified as a major growth corridor for South East Queensland and we believe we are positioned well to service the growing northern and north-western suburbs as the region continues to attract young families with a high disposable income,” Ross said. Ross and Kathy hope to continue to expand their business with a second retail store and additional mobile vans in the future. “We have just hired our first full-time pool technician and will be looking to continue developing the team as our work load increases ensuring our clients always receive the best service possible.” “We have a clear vision for the growth of our business. Ipswich has a strong community focus and we have been very lucky to have generated a lot of new business through word of mouth referrals. This year we will be working to continue building strong relationships with our clients and the greater Ipswich community.” PoolWerx is Australia’s leading pool and spa care network with over 200 franchise territories offering pool products, equipment installation, maintenance and repairs and expert regular and casual. |
