Franchise Industry's 'Worst of the Worst' Share Common Issues
June 11, 2007 - KITTERY, MAINE – A new report released by Franchise Business Review, compiled from survey data of dissatisfied franchise owners, clearly illustrates that when aggressive financial expectations are not tempered and solid franchisee support is not in place, the long-term satisfaction and performance of franchisees suffers significantly.
“This new data highlights the importance for any entrepreneur who may be considering the purchase of a franchise to go beyond the franchise sales department and talk to as many current franchisees as possible,” says Eric Stites, Founder and President of Franchise Business Review. “There are some really great franchise opportunities available today but there are also many average and below average franchises out there. Having a deep understanding of current franchisee satisfaction is critical before investing in any franchise company.”
The study shows that among dissatisfied franchise owners, half gave poor ratings to their franchise system's advertising and promotional programs, while the majority indicated that they are tracking below financial expectations. When asked if they had the opportunity to “do it all over again”, most said that they would not.
